Our host employer, a major national supplier of engineering and construction services to Australian industry, has several trade apprentice opportunities available at Tomago, in the Newcastle area.
Currently, they are seeking applications for the position of First Year Boilermaker Apprentice.
Boilermakers produce metal fabricated products such as structures, frames, plate assemblies, pipe-work and vessels using tools, welding and thermal cutting equipment and fabrication techniques. Welds are undertaken to pre-determined standards and may be tested for compliance to required standards. Fabricators/Boilermakers use a wide range of hand and hand held power tools and workshop machines such as drills, grinders, clamps, benders and lifting equipment.
The applicants we are seeking are people who are serious about getting a highly sought after trade qualification and are serious about developing their career and future employment prospects. They will have reliable transport to and from work, a strong mechanical aptitude, a good comprehension of English and Mathematics and a commitment to Workplace Health and Safety. This role involves comprehensive onsite training, TAFE study and additional training as required in terms of certifications such as White Cards and Elevated Work Platform tickets (EWP).
