This is an exciting opportunity for sheetmetal tradesman and/or apprentices to join an ever growing sheet metal workshop in the Newcastle area.
We are seeking an experienced sheet metal tradesman as well as applications for apprentices (New, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th years can apply) to join a passionate team in a busy manufacturing workshop the Newcastle area.
Tradesman
Tasks will include but not limited to:

Fabrication of switchboards, enclosures as well as light fabrication – folding, cutting, welding (MIG,TIG), polishing, etc.
Essential Criteria:
1st Class trades qualified sheet metal worker/fabricator.
Completion of trade qualification as a first class sheet metal worker.
Must be able to work with or without drawings (read interpret technical drawings).
Must be able to work un-supervised,
MMAW, TIG and MIG welding skills.
Experience with S/S, Aluminium, mild steel fabrication.
Ability to work with minimum supervision and/or as part of a team.
High attention to detail.
Driver’s licence with own reliable transport
Strong experience with power and hand tools
Polishing experience
Have the ability to utilise metal working machinery
Must be well presented
Desirable Criteria:
Computer knowledge.
Able to read drawings, prepare sketches for CAD Drawings.
Program operate CNC machinery
Ability to work conscientiously and showing initiative.
Apprentice
Essential criteria for this position:
Drivers licence
Strong safety performance at previous employment
Willingness to learn
Have a genuine interest and passion in sheet metal work
Completed HSC
Be a 2nd/3rd/4th Year Sheet Metal Apprentice
High attention to detail
You will be a strong communicator
Possess a good work ethic
Be a proven team player
Desirable criteria:
Experience with CAD software will be advantageous
Duties Include:
Learning all aspects Metal Fabrication
Workshop based with some on-site work
Listening and following instructions from supervisors
Following all WHS Policies Procedures
General Housekeeping
Welding, cutting, bending sheet metal
Attending and passing TAFE
You will be studying Certificate III Engineering – Fabrication Trade (Light Fabrication).
