Small fabrication company are searching for an enthusiastic and motivated candidate to join our sheet metal fabrication team as an apprentice.
First and second year apprentices will be considered.
This is a full time position.
Essential criteria for this position:
Drivers licence
Strong safety performance at previous employment

Have a genuine interest and passion in sheet metal
Desirable criteria:

Duties Include:

Workshop based with some on-site work
Listening and following instructions from supervisors

General Housekeeping
Welding, cutting, bending sheet metal
Attending and passing TAFE
You will be studying Certificate III Engineering – Fabrication Trade (Light Fabrication)

We will soon require an experienced Mechanical Fitter / Team
Leader to join the team and continue our success as a safety focused business,
committed to our customers and our people. This hands on role will see you
primarily responsible for providing maintenance services to various
machinery and other assets within our facility. You will also be accountable
for leading and performing planned and unplanned maintenance tasks, responding
to breakdowns and working with our operational and other trade professionals to
fault find and rectify asset reliability issues. With a focus on implementing
timely, efficient and effective solutions, this a role that will see you
supporting equipment availability, minimising downtime and balancing your time
between our workshop and the plant as you will also be a central figure in
leading and planning regular shutdown activities.
With
a hands on focus and the opportunity to lead and influence other trade
professionals, this is a crucial role in supporting production and offers you a
unique working environment to ply your trade and expand on your experience.
The
role will see you working across day shift, with some flexibility when
required, including overtime and call in’s as required.
You
will be a qualified mechanical trades professional (Fitter) and possess
significant trade experience, ideally within a heavy industrial or production
based environment. Equally important will be your overall mechanical aptitude,
experience with many forms of mechanical equipment including; hydraulics,
pneumatics, welding and rotating machinery. You will be someone who has the
ability to proactively fault find, work autonomously and utilise your high
level of initiative, supporting by your ability to meet deadlines. With a
flexible, team based approach and demonstrated commitment to safety, you will
be someone who is driven to achieve in an environment focused on safe and
efficient customer outcomes. Those with previous experience in the use of SAP
will be viewed favourably.
You

Applying quality control techniques and set up production lines
Training on production machinery
Learning operational aspects of new machinery and ensuring equipment knowledge is maintained and shared.
Maintenance tasks and repairs
Creating and losing work orders and keeping data current
Ordering parts and consumables
Complying with all site requirements
You must have:
At least 5 years previous experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the agricultural, food or pharmaceutical industry
Trade Fitter Qualifications Mechanical
Certificate in Pneumatics l II; Electrical disconnect/reconnect
TIG/Stick Welding ( Pressure welding ticket )
Working knowledge on pumps, gear boxes, filling and labelling equipment
Able to interpret schematic diagrams
Forklift licence
Prior GMP facility experience
Competent computer skills
Good writing and mathematical competency
